Delayed Doesn't Mean Denied

Delayed Doesn't Mean Denied

One of the hardest seasons to navigate is the space between what God promised and what you're experiencing right now.

It's the waiting.

Not because waiting is easy for anyone, but because waiting has a way of making us question everything. We begin to wonder if we heard God correctly. We replay old conversations. We revisit old prayers. We ask ourselves if we missed a step somewhere along the way.

If we're not careful, we'll start interpreting God's silence as God's absence.

I've learned they're not the same.

There are seasons when God is working in ways we cannot see. Just because nothing appears to be changing doesn't mean nothing is happening. Seeds spend time underground before anyone ever sees the harvest. A foundation is laid before the walls of a house are ever visible.

God has never been in a hurry.

He's far more interested in preparing us than He is in impressing us.

I've discovered that some prayers couldn't have been answered five years ago because I wasn't the woman I needed to become to steward what I was asking for. Looking back, I'm grateful God loved me enough to say, "Not yet."

Waiting has a way of exposing what's really in our hearts. It reveals whether we've placed our hope in God's timing or in our own. It teaches us that faith isn't believing God only after we see movement. Faith is continuing to trust Him when the only thing we have is His promise.

Isaiah wrote, "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength." Waiting isn't passive. It's an active decision to keep trusting the One who never breaks His word.

Maybe you've been wondering why it hasn't happened yet.

Maybe the better question isn't, "God, why are You making me wait?"

Maybe it's, "Lord, what are You producing in me while I wait?"

There is purpose in the process.

There is growth in the waiting.

And there is peace when we trust God's timing more than our own.

If God made the promise, He doesn't need your anxiety to bring it to pass.

He needs your trust.

Don't confuse a delay with a denial.

God is still working, even when you can't see it.

Reflection: What has God been developing in you while you've been waiting for Him to move?
