God Isn't Asking You to Figure It Out
God Isn't Asking You to Figure It Out
Key Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6
There was a time when I thought being responsible meant having all the answers. If there was a problem, I needed to solve it. If there was a decision to make, I needed to figure it out. If I couldn't see the outcome, I stayed awake trying to create one.
I never questioned it because that's what capable people do.
Or so I thought.
The Holy Spirit has been correcting me lately. He reminded me that nowhere in Scripture does God tell us to figure everything out. He tells us to trust Him.
That sounds simple until life presents a situation that doesn't make sense. That's when our minds go to work. We analyze every conversation, replay every decision, consider every possible outcome, and convince ourselves that if we just think about it long enough, we'll eventually find the answer.
The problem is, peace rarely comes from overthinking.
It comes from trusting.

That's why Proverbs 3 has become so meaningful to me in this season. Solomon didn't say, "Figure it out with all your understanding." He said, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."
That verse exposes something in all of us.
We don't mind trusting God as long as we understand what He's doing.
But faith begins where our understanding ends.
I've discovered that many of the burdens I've been carrying were never assignments from God. They were assignments I gave myself because I believed I had to solve everything before I could have peace.
God never asked me to carry that weight.
He simply asked me to trust Him.
There's freedom in realizing that God's responsibility is the outcome.
Mine is obedience.
When I finally release my need to understand everything, I make room for God to do what only He can do.
Maybe that's why Jesus spoke so often about little children. Children don't have to understand every detail before they trust a loving father. They simply reach for his hand and keep walking.
Perhaps that's what God is inviting us to do.
Not to have all the answers.
Just to keep walking with Him.
Reflection
What situation have you been trying to figure out that God has simply been asking you to trust Him with?
