Have You Forgotten Where Your Help Comes From?
One of the things God has been showing me lately is how easy it is to drift without even realizing it. We don't usually wake up one morning and decide we're going to depend on ourselves instead of God. It happens slowly. We become more experienced. More knowledgeable. More capable. Before long, the very gifts God gave us become the things we rely on more than Him.
As purpose-driven women, that's a real temptation. We know how to make things happen. We know how to solve problems, lead people, build businesses, care for our families, and push through difficult seasons. Those aren't weaknesses. They're gifts. The danger comes when those gifts quietly replace our dependence on God.
As I was reading Psalm 121, one verse kept pulling at me: "My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." I've read that scripture countless times, but this time I found myself asking a different question. If my help really comes from the Lord, why is He sometimes the last place I look?

How often do we exhaust ourselves trying to figure everything out before we ever stop to pray? We research, make phone calls, rewrite the plan, create another strategy, and only after we've reached the end of ourselves do we finally say, "Lord, I need Your help."
I've been there.
The Holy Spirit gently reminded me that depending on God isn't something we graduate from because we've become wiser or more successful. In fact, the more responsibility He entrusts to us, the more we need Him. Purpose was never designed to be carried in our own strength.
I don't believe God is asking us to become less capable. I believe He's inviting us to become more dependent. There is a difference. I can walk into a meeting prepared and still depend on Him. I can make plans while asking Him to order my steps. I can use the wisdom He's given me without forgetting where that wisdom came from.
Maybe that's the reminder we all need today.
Before you search for another answer, pause.
Before you build another strategy, pray.
Before you carry another burden, ask yourself, "Have I invited God into this first?"
Because your greatest resource has never been your experience.
It has never been your education.
It has never been your network.
Your help has always come from the Lord.
Reflection: When life demands an answer, where do you instinctively look first? Does your response reveal dependence on your ability or dependence on God?
