Lord, Is It Time to Let It Go
Lord, Is It Time to Let It Go?
One of the hardest things to discern isn't whether something is good or bad. It's knowing when its season has ended.
I've discovered that we can hold on to things long after God has released us from them. Sometimes it's because we're comfortable. Sometimes it's because we're afraid. Sometimes it's because we've invested so much time that walking away feels like admitting we failed.
But what if letting go isn't failure?
What if it's faith?

Ecclesiastes tells us there is "a time to plant and a time to uproot." That scripture reminds me that God is just as involved in the endings as He is in the beginnings. We celebrate new doors, but we often resist the closing of old ones.
I've learned that every ending creates space for something new.
The challenge is that we usually want God to show us what's next before we're willing to release what He's asked us to leave behind.
That's not how trust works.
Sometimes God simply says, "Let it go."
Not because it was bad.
Not because it didn't serve a purpose.
But because its assignment in your life has been fulfilled.
I've had to ask myself some difficult questions.
Am I holding on because God told me to?
Or because I'm afraid of what comes next?
Those are two very different reasons.
Purpose requires open hands.
We can't receive what God is trying to place in our lives if we're still clinging to what He asked us to release.
Maybe the question isn't, "What do I need to hold on to?"
Maybe it's, "Lord, what have You been asking me to release?"
When God asks us to let go, it's never to leave us empty.
It's always to prepare us for what He has next.
Reflection: Is there something you've been holding on to that God has quietly been asking you to release?
