DREAM BUILDER OR DREAM KILLER

July 14, 20264 min read

Are You Building Your Dream...or Burying It?

Every dream will eventually face two voices.

One will remind you why it's possible.

The other will remind you why it isn't.

The question is: Which voice are you listening to?

There are two types of people in this world: dream builders and dream killers.

Dream builders encourage. They believe. They remind you of what's possible even when you can't see it for yourself. They don't ignore obstacles, but they refuse to let obstacles become the final chapter. They see setbacks as opportunities to learn, adjust, and grow. They speak life. They celebrate progress. They stay committed long after the excitement wears off because they understand that every great dream is built one faithful step at a time.

Dream killers see the same dream through a completely different lens. They focus on everything that could go wrong. They question your ability before you've had the chance to discover it for yourself. They criticize the foundation, magnify every obstacle, and often disappear at the first sign of difficulty. Their words drain hope instead of fueling it. Where dream builders ask, "How can we make this work?" dream killers ask, "Why even try?"

The longer I live, the more I realize that not everyone assigned to your life is assigned to your purpose.

Some people are comfortable with the version of you that never stretches beyond what they understand. Growth makes them uncomfortable because your courage forces them to confront their own fear.

That doesn't make them bad people.

It simply means they may not be the right people to carry this season of your life with you.

Maya Angelou wisely said, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

If the people in your inner circle continually minimize your vision, question every step you take, or make you feel foolish for believing God placed something greater inside of you, it may be time to examine your circle.

But before we point outward, let's look inward.

Because sometimes the greatest dream killer isn't sitting across the table.

Sometimes it's the voice in the mirror.

How many dreams have we talked ourselves out of?

How many opportunities have we abandoned because fear sounded more reasonable than faith?

How many times have we convinced ourselves that we weren't qualified, ready, smart enough, young enough, old enough, or capable enough?

Your inner conversation matters.

The words you repeatedly speak to yourself become the beliefs that shape your decisions.

Scripture reminds us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." (Proverbs 18:21)

That includes the words you speak over your own life.

If God planted the dream within you, He also placed within you everything you need to begin walking toward it. Your responsibility is not to have every answer. Your responsibility is to remain faithful to the assignment.

Stop waiting for someone else to believe in you before you believe in yourself.

Stop looking outside of yourself for permission to become who God has already called you to be.

The hero you've been waiting for isn't coming.

By God's grace, the courage you need is already being developed within you.

Today, examine your thoughts.

Are they building your dream...

Or quietly burying it?

Choose words that agree with God's promises more than your fears.

Your future is listening.

Prayer

Father, thank You for every dream You have placed within us. Help us recognize the voices that build faith and the voices that feed fear. Give us wisdom to surround ourselves with people who encourage purpose and the courage to silence every thought that contradicts what You have spoken over our lives. Teach us to speak life, believe boldly, and walk faithfully toward every assignment You have given us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Affirmation

Infinite Spirit, open the way for great abundance for me. I am an irresistible magnet for all that belongs to me by divine right. By the grace of God, the dreams He has placed within me are manifesting in His perfect timing. I choose to think, speak, and live as a dream builder. Amen.
