She Has Chosen a Good Part
She Has Chosen a Good Part
By Coach PBJ
There is a kind of rejection that does not come from your enemies.
It comes from the people who are walking alongside you in the same purpose, serving the same God, moving toward the same vision.
And that kind is the one that nearly breaks you.
The Assignment
There was a season in my life when I was serving as the facilitator of a women's ministry.
I had a co-facilitator beside me. We shared the same assignment. We were supposed to be walking the same road together.
But we were not the same kind of women.
She was a planner. She knew in January what her life would look like in December. She mapped things out, set goals, and moved with strategy and precision.
I moved differently.
I prayed. I fasted. I waited. I did not take a step until I heard from God. I did not move until He moved. He did not show me December in January. He showed me today. And I walked in that.
Neither way was wrong.
But she could not understand mine.
And what she could not understand, she began to resent.
The Accusation
Halfway through our season together something shifted.
She accused me of isolating her from the ministry. Of leaving her out. Of moving without her.
What was true is that I did not always know in advance what God was going to do. I could not give her a plan that He had not yet given me. I could not map out what He had not yet revealed.
What was not true is that I was doing any of it to hurt her.
But she escalated it to leadership.
And I was called in to address what she had said about me.

I was told, "You are more like Mary. And she is more like Martha."
It was meant as a gentle correction. As if being Mary was the problem. As if my intimacy with God, my willingness to sit at His feet and wait for Him to speak, was somehow the thing that needed to be fixed.
But even in that moment, even through the hurt, something in my spirit recognized what had actually just been said.
Jesus said it first. In Luke 10:42.
Mary has chosen a good part. And it shall not be taken away from her.
What It Felt Like
I went home that day and I cried myself to sleep.
Because being called too spiritual is one of the most disorienting things you can experience as a woman who is genuinely trying to follow God.
You are not performing your faith. You are not putting on a show. You are simply moving the way He made you to move. Waiting when He says wait. Going when He says go. Trusting what you hear even when you cannot explain it to anyone else.
And when someone looks at that and calls it a problem, it does not just hurt your feelings.
It makes you question yourself.
Am I too much? Am I out of order? Am I missing something?
That is the shadow. Rejection dressed up in religious language. Coming from a place you thought was safe.
What God Said
That night I opened my Bible and God led me to 1 Kings. To the story of two women who had both given birth. One woman's baby had died in the night and she had taken the living child from the other mother and replaced it with her own dead baby.

And when I read it God spoke clearly to my spirit.
Walk away. So the baby can live.
The ministry was the baby. The assignment was the baby. And if I stayed in that environment, fighting to be understood by people who could not see what God was doing, the assignment would die in the conflict.
So the very next day I wrote my letter of resignation and I submitted it.
It was not easy to accept.
But I said what I knew to be true.
At the end of the day I had to obey God.
I stepped down. I let my co-facilitator take over. And I walked away from something I had poured my heart into.
The ministry experienced a shift and it was not the same.
Not because I was vindictive. Not because I wanted it to fail. But because what God had been doing in that space was connected to the assignment He had placed on my life. And when the assignment left, the fruit left with it.
What I Know Now That I Did Not Know Then
Here is what I want you to hear.
In that season I did not have language for what I was going through. I did not know what shadow work was. I did not know how to name the pattern of rejection I kept encountering. I did not understand why being fully myself kept making other people uncomfortable.
But God was already doing the work.
He was already taking me through the very process I now help other women walk through. Helping me see where the wound was. Helping me understand what I was carrying and why. Helping me separate who I was from how people responded to me.
I just did not know what to call it yet.
And I want to say that to you directly.
God has been doing this work in you too. Long before you had language for it. Long before you found a name for what you were walking through. He has been using every rejection, every misunderstanding, every room that could not hold what He placed in you, to shape you into who He called you to be.
He wastes nothing.
Not one tear. Not one betrayal. Not one moment of being the woman nobody could quite understand.
All of it has purpose.
For the Woman Who Has Been Misunderstood
I want to speak directly to you now.
If you have ever been called too much, too intense, too sensitive, too spiritual, too different in how you move with God, I need you to hear this.
That is not a flaw.
That is your fingerprint.
The way you move, the way you hear, the way you wait and trust and follow even when you cannot explain it to anyone else, that is not something that needs to be corrected. It is something that needs to be protected.
Not everyone is assigned to walk with you. And not everyone who walks alongside you for a season is meant to stay.
Some people are there to test the assignment. To see if you will shrink yourself to make them comfortable. To see if the rejection of people you respect will cause you to abandon what God placed in you.
Do not abandon it.
Here is the shadow work I want you to do.
Ask yourself honestly. Have you been altering how you move with God to make other people more comfortable with you? Have you been dimming something He placed in you because someone called it a problem? Have you mistaken their inability to understand you for evidence that something is wrong with you?
Their confusion about your assignment is not confirmation that your assignment is wrong.
It is confirmation that not everyone is called to be part of it.
Keep Doing What You Are Doing
Block out the outside noise.
People will reject you. People will abandon you. People will misunderstand you. People will try to cancel the assignment that God has placed in your life because they do not understand it.
But nevertheless, stand strong.
What God has called you to do, He will also equip you for. And He will surround you with the people who are actually part of your assignment.
Mary chose a good part.
And it was not taken from her.
Neither will yours be taken from you.
Keep choosing it.
If this word resonated with you and you are ready to do the deeper work of understanding who you are and what you have been called to carry, I would love to connect with you.
